Male Athlete of the Month
Michael competes basketball and flag football with the Regis Jesuit Unified Program. Michael is a leader on his team and always encourages his teammates. This past month at the Denver Regional Flag Football competition, Michael caught the game-tying touchdown pass with no time on the clock to send the game into overtime. His team ended up winning the game and taking home first place in their division. Michael’s leadership and passion for sports makes him a perfect choice for the Special Olympics Colorado Male Athlete of the Month!
Female Athlete of the Month
Michelle always gives her best, always has a positive attitude, and is dedicated to her team and Special Olympics. Michelle’s flag football coach, Craig Langness, said, “I have had the pleasure of coaching Michelle for the past two seasons of flag football. Michelle never misses a practice, always puts out 100% effort, and does everything I ask of her. I have never seen her back down from a challenge, in fact she embraces them. Michelle leaves it all on the field and plays through pain and fatigue. She excels at rushing the passer and no matter the caliber of quarterback she forces mistakes time and time again. She also is cognizant of her teammates and knows when one could really use a boost and tries her best to get him or her involved. I’m proud to have Michelle on my team and look forward to coaching her for many years to come.” Congratulations to Michelle on being named the Special Olympics Colorado Female Athlete of the Month!

TD Ameritrade has been a supporter of Special Olympics Colorado for seven years and during that time has served as the presenting sponsor of our State Fall Classic, as well as a sponsor of our Polar Plunge Series, Winter Games and Plane Pull. Aside from their sponsorship, TD Ameritrade employees and their families are also huge supporters of Special Olympics and have spent countless hours volunteering at competitions like State Winter Games in Copper and Fall Classic, pulling planes and polar plunging. Additionally, they have hosted Lunch and Learns at their office, giving their team members the opportunity to learn more about Special Olympics and the many ways they can get involved. We cannot thank TD Ameritrade enough for their tremendous support; it has been a pleasure partnering with them!
