Get Involved

The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is to raise funds for and awareness of the Special Olympics movement worldwide.

Thank you to all those that attended the 2018 LETR State Kick Off Conference on Friday, January 19, 2018. We will provide an email survey shortly and would appreciate your feedback. Thanks for all you do for our athletes!

Special Olympics is a program that daily reaffirms our beliefs that with hope, love and dedication, we can see achievement and self-worth realized by any individual. It is our belief that persons with intellectual disabilities, by their involvement in Special Olympics, show the community at large the true meaning of sport and a pure joy towards life.

Here are a few ways that your department can get involved:

  • Organize a Torch Run leg in your area or start a new route. Encourage your fellow officers to get involved too! Complete the 2017 Torch Run form here.
  • Get a team for the Polar Plunge and/or Plane Pull event from your department. Ask a local SOCO athlete to join your team.
  • Start your own “Pop-Up” Tip-A-Cop event at a local restaurant in your community. 100% tips go towards SOCO LETR.
  • Schedule officers to present medals to athletes at SOCO Regional and State competitions. Close personal contact is the best way to motivate officers to become more involved. Visit the SOCO Calendar for specific dates and times.
  • Check out the LETR Facebook page for fundraising ideas and tips. Be sure to work with the staff at Special Olympics Colorado to incorporate themes and messaging.
