Young Athletes Program

Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) twin athletes Josh and Sam Hogg are 7 years old and have been involved with SOCO for over 4 years. They participate in most every Young Athletes Program activity! They both love track and field and soccer the most because, as their mother Paula says, “They like to go, go, go!” The twins love being part of of the Young Athletes Program because they get to be around other Special Olympics Colorado athletes and families a give hugs! Congratulations Josh and Sam!


Krista Elezian
Female Athlete of the Month
Denver Region

Krista just moved to Colorado from Arizona and we are so excited to have her compete in swimming! She swam in her first Summer Games this year and won two silver medals and a gold medal! On behalf of all of us at Special Olympics Colorado, congratulations on being named the June Female Athlete of the Month, Krista!

Northeast Region

Renoug Family

Jason Renouf has run the Northeast Regional Powerlifting tournament for almost 20 years! He also runs the State powerlifting tournament. Jason and his wife Rhonda have been nothing but exemplary volunteers, coaches and advocates for Special Olympics Colorado.  Not far behind them, you will find their kids helping at each event, running registration for and assisting wherever their mom or dad may need them. This family goes above and beyond each and every year to make sure our powerlifters state-wide have quality competitions and a supportive community.

Griffin Kramer
Volunteer of the Month
Denver Region

Dan has been involved with Special Olympics Colorado for over 5 years! Dan was instrumental in helping coordinate all of the many moving parts of the 2017 Summer Games! Congratulations on being named the June Volunteer of the Month, Griffin!

Bryan Looper
Western Region

Bryan has been a Special Olympics Colorado coach for over 20 years. He has coached basketball and softball in Grand Junction and now in Pagosa Springs. Bryan was also an Area Manager for Special Olympics Colorado in the Southwest Area.  He managed all of the competitions in Durango, Pagosa Springs and Cortez plus outlying towns in that area. Bryan is excited to get Flag Football going late this summer. He is a great person, coach and volunteer. Congrats to you Bryan!

Community Partner

Spectrum has been an Annual Partner of Special Olympics Colorado for the past two years, and was the presenting sponsor for the 2017 State Summer Games! Beyond their sponsorship, Spectrum has supported SOCO in various ways – as volunteers, as athletes, as coaches, and as members of SOCO’s Young Professionals Board. This organization has shown their passion for advocating for intellectuals with disabilities in every way, and we are thankful for the partnership we have with them. Congratulations to Spectrum for being Community Partner of the Month!
