Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified All-Stars go to Dallas
The Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified All-Stars recently traveled to Dallas to compete against FC Dallas’ Special Olympics Unified All-Stars.
During the trip, the team attended a baseball game between the Frisco Rough Riders and the Tulsa Drillers and watched the Colorado Rapids take on FC Dallas at TOYOTA Stadium before their game started on Saturday night.
The two unified teams played a fun, action-packed game full of scoring opportunities for both teams in front of 1,500 spectators. While FC Dallas prevailed 2-0, the two teams celebrated together after the game and congratulated each other on a well played match before meeting FC Dallas captain Matt Hedges and head coach Oscar Pareja during the medal ceremony.
The team also got to relax at the hotel’s extensive pool area that included waterfalls, a water slide, bocce, ping pong and foosball. The team had time to stop at a family fun center on their way to the airport on Sunday and we able to spend a few hours of fun playing laser tag, bowling, gravity ropes, arcade games and billiards.
The Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified All-Stars will be in action again on Wednesday, August 20 when they play an intrasquad Burgundy vs Blue Match after the the Rapids match against the Los Angeles Galaxy in Landon Donovan’s last trip to Denver. The scrimmage will be in preparation for their TRIP TO LOS ANGELES on Friday, September 5 as they compete against the Los Angeles Galexy’s Special Olympics Southern California Unified All-Star team.
