Welcome to the Southwest Area page. The Southwest Area includes the following counties: Archuletta, Dolores, Hinsdale, La Plata, Mineral, Montezuma, San Juan and San Miguel Counties. Team Training Schedules
Summer Sports training is now in progress, including the following sports: bocce, cycling, golf, softball and tennis. The Summer sport season runs from June through August. To see a list of the team training schedules for the Southwest Area, click here.

Join Special Olympics Colorado
Special Olympics Colorado is open to people of all ability levels. Children and adults eight years of age or older with intellectual disabilities are eligible to participate as athletes, and people without disabilities are invited to join our program as volunteers, coaches and Unified Sports partners.

New Athletes Welcome!
We are excited that you are interested in getting involved with Special Olympics Colorado.  The following are a few steps to get you started: 

1. All athletes need to fill out a SPECIAL OLYMPICS medical form in order to participate. Click here to download and print a form. To download a form in Spanish, click here. Return the completed form with original signatures to Special Olympics Colorado.
2. Contact Julie Fite, Area Manager, to determine which program works best with your needs and schedule.  Julie can tell you what sports are offered as well as when and where practices will be held.
3. Attend practice and become part of a Special Olympics Team!!!
