Northeast Area
Welcome to the Northeast Area Page. The Northeast Area includes the following counties: Boulder, Broomfield, Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Larimer, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedwick, Washington, Weld and Yuma.

Area Tournaments and Events
The Northeast Area hosts 10 area events and six school-day events. Area events are the first qualifying event for athletes/teams to be eligible to advance to state games. School day events are held inviting Special Education students to participate and learn more about Special Olympics and how to get involved as an athlete or to create a local program at their school. Currently school day events are held in bowling, snowshoeing, track and field and a sports festival.

Team Training Schedules
Currently there are over 28 local programs through out the Northeast Area. Some programs have many athletes to our rural areas that have a few. Special Olympics is available for anyone who would like to participate.
Winter Sports training is now in progress, including the following sports: Basketball, Alpine skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing.
The Winter sport season runs from January through March.

Special Olympics is looking for athletes, volunteers, coaches and Unified Sports Partners
Special Olympics Colorado is open to people of all ability levels. Children and adults with intellectual disabilities are eligible to participate as athletes, and people without disabilities are invited to join our program as volunteers, coaches and Unified Sports partners.
New Athletes Welcome!
We are excited that you are interested in getting involved with Special Olympics Colorado. The following are a few steps to get you started:
- All athletes are required to fill out a SPECIAL OLYMPICS medical/participation form in order to participate. Click here to download and print a form. To download a form in Spanish, click here. You can return your completed form to your area manager or coach.
- Contact one or more of the local program coordinators in your area to determine which program works best with your needs and schedule. The program coordinators can tell you what sports they are offering as well as when and where practices will be held.
- Attend practice and become part of a Special Olympics Team!!!
