Mile High Area
Welcome to the Mile High Area page. The Mile High Area includes the following counties: Arapahoe, Elbert, Douglas, Clear Creek, Gilpin and Jefferson Counties.

SOCO welcomes Steve Karjala as the new Mile High Area Manager as of June 2010. Steve replaces Jenny McVoy, who is our new Competition and Education Manager.

Team Training Schedules
Summer Sports training is now in progress, including the following sports: bocce, cycling, golf, softball, tennis, Young Athletes Program, and year-round swimming. The Summer sport season runs from June through August.

Join Special Olympics Colorado
Special Olympics Colorado is open to people of all ability levels. Children and adults eight years of age or older with intellectual disabilities are eligible to participate as athletes, and people without disabilities are invited to join our program as volunteers, coaches and Unified Sports partners.

New Athletes Welcome!
We are excited that you are interested in getting involved with Special Olympics Colorado.  The following are a few steps to get you started: 

  1. All athletes need to fill out a SPECIAL OLYMPICS medical form in order to participate. Click here to download and print a form. To download a form in Spanish, click here. Return the completed form with original signatures to Special Olympics Colorado.
  2. Contact one or more of the local program coordinators in your area to determine which program works best with your needs and schedule.  The program coordinators can tell you what sports they are offering as well as when and where practices will be held.   3. Attend practice and become part of a Special Olympics Team!!!
