Volunteer of the Quarter Angela Ewari
Azur began volunteering with his mom at age five and usually helps at several High Plain Area competitions including golf, athletics, basketball and the Douglas County Sports Festival. Through his volunteer experience, Ewari says that Azur is learning about acceptance and respect and developing a solid work ethic. He enjoys attending competitions and cheering for the athletes. He never questions the athlete’s abilities and seems very proud of the work his mom does with the program. Ewari is a native of Ft. Collins and received her BS degree in Human Development from Colorado State University. Growing up, she competed in track and basketball at Ft. Collins High School. Outside of SOCO, she plays the piano, practices yoga daily and is training for her first marathon (Denver Marathon). About her time as a volunteer, Angela reflects, “I feel I get more out of my volunteering than I give back. The athletes inspire and motivate me to do more with my own life and with my kids. They teach me to work harder, give selflessly, and be grateful for all I accomplish. I am very fortunate to be involved in such a great organization and working with such great people.” CONGRATULATIONS ANGELA FOR BEING NAMED THE VOLUNTEER OF THE QUARTER FOR SPRING 2007! |

What's Happening this Season in your Area? Which area do I live in? |

At just about every state competition, look around and you will most likely be able to find one of SOCO’s most hard working volunteers, Angela Ewari. Chances are somewhere close behind her is one or both of her sons, Enzo (age 4) and Azur (age 7). This year marks Ewari’s fourth as a member of the Games Organizing Committee (GOC) for Winter Games. She directed the Figure and Speed Skating Competition and served as the HR Director at Winter Games where she headed up volunteer registration and information services. She is also part of the GOC’s for Summer Games, Summer Classic and Fall Classic. As a relatively new member to the GOC, Ewari notes, “The GOC members have all been very welcoming [to me] as the newbie and have helped me every step of the way and make me feel a part of the family.” In addition to her work on state competitions, she also volunteers for many High Plains area competitions and events as well. Ewari serves on the GOC for the Douglas County Sports Festival and aside from that, she has also been apart of SOCO’s Tax Checkoff Campaign serving as an ambassador for the past three years.
