“Special Olympics Colorado has been a wonderful part of the last 16 years of our lives. We have discovered lifetime friendships, experienced unconditional acceptance and the joy of giving and sharing with others.” – Crandall Family

Volunteer
Touch a life, and you’ll be touched, too. More than 6,000 volunteers help Special Olympics Colorado – and see their investment of time and talent make an immediate impact. Coach athletes, support a statewide competition, become a sports official, be a timer at a local event… Opportunities are endless, and volunteers come from all walks of life: students, senior citizens, business people, family members of athletes, amateur and professional athletes and coaches, teachers and many others.

Become an Athlete
Special Olympics athletes have the chance to compete, to grow, to learn and to inspire. They can participate in 22 sports, train to be a coach or official or participate in Athlete Leadership Programs that provide other opportunities, such as learning public speaking skills. No matter what their ability level, athletes can benefit from Special Olympics Colorado.

Coach
Volunteering your time as a coach is one of Special Olympics Colorado’s most rewarding positions. The year-round training we provide for people with intellectual disabilities requires dedicated coaches – both adults and teens – who can work with athletes on a regular basis. As a coach, you become a role model and character builder, plus help athletes discover their physical skills, self-worth, courage and capacity to grow. Your time commitment needs only to be two to four hours per week for eight weeks. Sports experience is not required – training is provided by Special Olympics Colorado.

Unified Sports Program
Join a team that wins more than medals. Special Olympics Unified Sports® brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities, people of similar age and athletic ability who train and compete on the same teams.
