Statewide Competitions
In addition to nearly 100 area-level competitions, Special Olympics Colorado hosts several statewide competitions every year. These sporting events vary in size and venues, and they’re all packed with fun and the Special Olympic spirit.
Winter Games
March 3 & 4, 2012 - Littleton and Copper Mtn. Resort
The Winter Games mark the culmination of the winter sports season in 6 sports for the 500 athletes who participate annually. Figure and Speed Skating will be hosted at South Suburban ice arena, Littleton on
March 3. Alpine skiing, Cross-country skiing, Snowboarding and Snowshoeing compete at Copper Mountain Resort March 4.
Basketball Tournament
March 17, 2012 - Gold Crown Field House, Lakewood
The state basketball tournament is one of our largest state competitions; each year more than 500 athletes and Unified Sports® partners participate.
Summer Games
June 2, 2012 - University of Northern Colorado
The Summer Games mark the culmination of our spring sports season and is the largest competition SOCO hosts each year. This year more than 1,100 athletes will participate in five sports: aquatics, athletics, soccer, powerlifting and gymnastics.
Summer Classic
August 11, 2012 - location to be determined
Special Olympics Colorado is happy to announce that the Summer Classic is back! This event will host over 700 athletes competing in tennis, softball, golf, bocce and softball.
Fall Classic
November 10, 2012 - Englewood
600 athletes & Unified Sports® partners compete at the state level in volleyball and bowling.
