The Monfort Family Foundation is a family directed charitable organization established in 1970 by Warren and Edith Monfort, pioneers in the development of the beef industry in Weld County, Colorado. The trustees of the Foundation are committed to making annual grants to tax-exempt organizations that provide worthwhile programs and projects with a focus primarily on Weld County, Colorado and its’ residents.

The grant was awarded through Wal-Mart’s State Giving program, where managers and other associates from across the state evaluate applications and determine the gifts. Special Olympics is the first organization in Colorado to benefit from Wal-Mart’s State Giving program.
