Planned Giving
A planned gift to Special Olympics Colorado assures an ongoing legacy of service to children and adults with intellectual disabilities through the joy of sports training and competition. Please consider becoming a part of this circle of friends.

Private philanthropy through planned gifts is becoming the foundation of almost every nonprofit organization in this country, including Special Olympics Colorado. To preserve the memory of a loved one, to fulfill a moral obligation, to express gratitude, and to demonstrate deep-felt humanitarian concerns are just some of the reasons people contribute.

Figure SkatingGiving Through Your Will
We invite you to become a member of Special Olympic Colorado’s Olympus Society by making a gift to Special Olympics Colorado through your will. Olympus Society members are the guardians who protect our athletes’ future. By providing for Special Olympics Colorado in your estate and financial planning, you guarantee the long-term success of Special Olympics and its athletes.

While the Greeks believed in mythical gods who ruled from Mt. Olympus, all of us at Special Olympics know there is nothing mythical about the real people who ensure generations of athletes will have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Anyone who provides for any Special Olympics entity in his or her plans, regardless of the size of the gift, becomes a member of the Olympus Society. You will receive a unique Olympus Society pin, a certificate proclaiming your level of caring and an invitation to a very special Olympus Society event planned for the Fall 2001.

To let us know you have put Special Olympics Colorado in your will, please click here to fill out our Olympus Society membership form on-line, or download the form and return it to us by mail or fax.

Deferred Gifts
Making charitable contributions is an art – a creative process that adapts to the changing needs and wishes of the donor. Planned giving enables a donor to arrange charitable contributions in ways that maximize his or her personal objectives while minimizing the after-tax cost.

A life payment plan, or deferred gift, can allow you to make a substantial gift to Special Olympics while still providing for your personal financial need during your lifetime. These types of plans are attractive to many donors because they offer substantial tax benefits and may increase cash flow to the donor or other beneficiary, depending on the asset contributed. Types of defered gifts include:

  • Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Pooled Income Funds
  • Gift Annuities
