Special Olympics participation encompasses 22 official sports, Unified Sports, Athlete Leadership Programs, Unified Champion Schools, Red Shirt Rookies, Young Athletes, and community initiatives– truly a spectrum of choices!

Athletes are the focus of our organization and the reason we are here. Our traditional sports program serves athletes from ages 8 onward and children from 2 to 7 can participate in our Young Athletes Program.

Families play a critical role in the continued success and growth of Special Olympics Colorado. Families are a constant source of support and encouragement for their athlete. There are many ways for families to get involved, please contact Kate O’Brien, Volunteer and Family Services Manager.

Get Involved

  • Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities are plentiful from Coaching to Committees to Event management and many other specialized roles.

  • Coach

Coaching is a great avenue for those who love sports and want to work closely with our athletes.

  • Donate

We are among less than 6% of non-profits not receiving federal and state funding so your donation and contributions are vital to our ability to delivery quality services to our athletes.

  • Compete

We offer 22 sports for athletes 8 years old and throughout a lifetime. Many of our athletes compete in 3-4 sports throughout the year. We also offer sports skills development programs for athletes as young as 2 years old.
