Special Olympics participation encompasses 22 official sports, Unified Sports, Athlete Leadership Programs, Unified Champion Schools, Red Shirt Rookies, Young Athletes, and community initiatives– truly a spectrum of choices!

Athletes are the focus of our organization and the reason we are here. Our traditional sports program serves athletes from ages 8 onward and children from 2 to 7 can participate in our Young Athletes Program.

Families play a critical role in the continued success and growth of Special Olympics Colorado. Families are a constant source of support and encouragement for their athlete. There are many ways for families to get involved, please contact Stephanie Levine, Athlete Leadership and Family Services Coordinator at

Get Involved

  • Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities are plentiful from Coaching to Committees to Event management and many other specialized roles.

  • Coach

Coaching is a great avenue for those who love sports and want to work closely with our athletes.

  • Donate

We are among less than 6% of non-profits not receiving federal and state funding so your donation and contributions are vital to our ability to delivery quality services to our athletes.

  • Compete

We offer 22 sports for athletes 8 years old and throughout a lifetime. Many of our athletes compete in 3-4 sports throughout the year. We also offer sports skills development programs for athletes as young as 2 years old.
